The SMR began life back in 1958

These pictures were taken in spring 1970 by Bernard Daniels

Lead engine, "John of Gaunt" (now re-named John H Gretton) with "Blanch of Lancaster" siting with the turntable and sheds behind at Central station

Also in shot is the Curwen Warship diesel

 

This whole area was cleared with the sale of the hall on closure however a new second station called appropriately car park had already been constructed in its current location in the 70's when the circuit extension was added at lakeside. And a new purpose built loco shed and workshops were built for the FSMR on restoring the railway in the late 90's
